May it be the brain, the body, the look, it depends solely on the person himself. And I can see various ways of people handling their insecurities. Some hide it so well, that you wouldn't even believe so. Some show it in public, to then get support from the surroundings. There are also some who try to hide it, but everybody can see right through.
I don't think it's wrong or bad for us to be insecure. I believe it is in our nature, just like how love is. But it could turn into something unnecessary when you overdo it.
For an instance, there's this girl who is ridiculously paranoid about her weight that when her friends joke around about her weight, she would lock herself up in her room and never get out until she loses some weights. Both sides are wrong in this case. First is that her friends should have not made fun of something she's insecure about. And second is that she should be rational in handling jokes no matter how harsh it may be. She should have taken it professionally and react in a positive way instead of torturing herself more.
Second example is when you failed your exams. This is one very vital case where some even committed suicide. Failing in exams could make a person become obsessively paranoid in their studies. They'll become even more depressed, they'll keep telling themselves that they are stupid and all, causing all their studies to deteriorate even worse than it was in the first place. And when people tell them that they've done things wrongly without the intention of putting them down, they'll be full of hideous rage and raises hell.
I think everybody should really get to know themselves even better than what they think they've known. To have people to accept our weaknesses, we ourselves must first admit, respect and accept them.
