From Him we came, and to Him we shall return.

Woke up this morning to a shocking news. A friend of mine has just lost her mother this morning. She passed away in a hospital while waiting for blood transfusion. She had a cancer, first diagnosed somewhere around the end of 2011, while my friend was fighting for her SPM.

I cried my eyeballs out to read her story she wrote in her blog months ago. She really gives strong and tough a new definition. She is the strongest person I have ever met, knowing her is a real honour. She truly is one great daughter any mother would ever be proud of having.

Dear A, her body may have left, but you know her unconditional love for you and your family is undying. She left the world gratefully, leaving behind such amazing children I know all of you are. I may be just an outsider, but from what I see, I know your mother would be so proud of you, taking care of your little brothers and sister.

When the Prophet Muhammad's own son died, he said: "The eyes shed tears and the heart is grieved, but we will not say anything except which pleases our Lord." One should strive to be patient, and remember that Allah is the One who gives life and takes it away, at a time appointed by Him. It is not for us to question His wisdom.

When one dies, everything in this earthly life is left behind, and there are no more opportunities to perform acts of righteousness and faith. The Prophet Muhammad once said that there are three things, however, which may continue to benefit a person after death: charity given during life which continues to help others, knowledge from which people continue to benefit, and a righteous child who prays for him or her.

I have seen her parents' picture together. Her father must be having a hard time too. Oh Allah, keep the family in Your guidance and protection. Lend them all the strength they need.

Let's put our hands together and recite du'as for her mother shall we. Al-Fatihah.
